Biography
Jie was born in Taiyuan, Shanxi, China. From 2008/9 to 2012/6, Jie studied in Nankai University in Tianjin, China, and received his B.S. degree in Physics in 2012. From 2011/6 to 2012/7, he spent one year in Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Science, Beijing, China, working with Prof. Sheng Meng on Dye Sensitized Solar Cells as an intern research assistant. Starting form 2012/8, Jie works as a research assistant in Department of Materials Science and Engineering, University of Wisconsin – Madison, and received his M.S. degree in Materials Science in 2015. He is currently working with Prof. Paul Voyles and Prof. Dane Morgan, and continuing towards his Ph.D. degree.
Research Interests
Jie is now working on single vacancy detection in bulk materials, which involves:
- High precision quantitative STEM experiment.
- Frozen phonon simulation.
- Density functional theory (DFT) calculation.
- Thermodynamic modeling.
