The Voyles group has up to four funded Ph.D. student positions available for Fall 2024 in the following areas:

  • Three positions in electron microscopy of liquids and glasses:
    • Join MRSEC IRG 1 to study liquids and molecular glasses
    • Use in situ 4D STEM to study crystallization of bulk metallic glasses
    • Combine in situ 4D STEM with machine learning to understand mechanical properties of 3D printed metallic glasses
  • One position using 4D STEM and machine learning to characterize the thermal evolution of defects in irradiated Ni-Cr alloys

Interested students should apply for admission to the UW Materials Science and Engineering department and contact Prof. Voyles by email.
